Colonel Scott William Warman was born in Massachusetts and is a first-generation Marine. He attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1996. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in March 2002 through Officer Candidate School Class 179.
After commissioning, Second Lieutenant Warman attended The Basic School in October 2002 before completing Naval Flight Officer Training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL in 2004. Newly promoted First Lieutenant Warman then completed F/A-18 training at VMFAT-101 in August 2005. His first fleet assignment was with VMFA(AW)-533, serving as a Weapons Systems Officer and Powerline Officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 05-07.1 at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. In 2007, now Captain Warman was assigned to an individual augment billet to serve as the Multi-National Force-West Liaison Officer to the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Arabian Peninsula at Balad Air Base, Iraq, in support of OIF 06-08 until February 2008.
Following two combat deployments, Captain Warman attended the Expeditionary Warfare School and graduated in 2009. During that time, he also had the opportunity to attend and graduate from the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) Weapons and Tactics Instructor’s Course (WTI) Ground Combat Department Class 2-09. Captain Warman then returned to VMFA(AW)-533, where he served in various billets during his tenure, completed three Unit Deployment Program deployments to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan, and graduated from two MAWTS-1 sponsored courses (Marine Division Tactics Course and WTI) before departing in December 2013 as a newly minted Major.
Major Warman then attended the College of Naval Command and Staff at the U.S. Naval War College, graduating in 2015 with a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Upon graduation, he returned to MCAS Iwakuni and served as the Future Operations Officer for Marine Aircraft Group-12 (MAG-12) until 2016. He then transferred to VMFA(AW)-242 and served as the Director of Safety and Standardization, Executive Officer, and Aircraft Maintenance Officer until 2018. Following his tour in Iwakuni, he was assigned to Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC), Programs and Resources, and served as the Operations Officer and Lead Program Coordinator for annual Program/Budget Review Issue Teams and Strategic Portfolio Reviews until July 2020.
Following his assignment at HQMC, Lieutenant Colonel Warman reported back to MAG-12 to serve as the Executive Officer and Personnel Support Detachment Commander before departing in May 2023. During this tour, he also served as the 31st MEU Executive Officer. As of July 2023, Colonel Warman assumed the role of Commanding Officer at the Marine Corps Air Facility, Quantico.
