Executive Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Eric D. Albright

A native of Ashville, Pennsylvania, LtCol Albright is currently the Executive Officer at Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico.  He graduated with honors from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Communications and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2005.  He graduated The Basic School in June 2006 and after completing Introductory Flight Screening at Turner Field in Quantico, Virginia, reported to Pensacola, Florida for flight training.  After being promoted to First Lieutenant in May 2007, First Lieutenant Albright completed primary flight training at Whiting Field in Milton, Florida before proceeding onto advanced jet training in Meridian, MS where he earned his wings of gold in December 2008 and was assigned the AV-8B Harrier.

Upon completing Fleet Replacement Squadron training in the Harrier at VMAT-203 in Cherry Point, North Carolina and being promoted to Captain in September 2009, Captain Albright was assigned to his first fleet squadron, the Great American Bulldogs of Marine Attack Squadron 223.  As a member of the Bulldogs he was assigned the secondary billet of S-6 Officer.

After deployments for training to Alpena, Michigan, Miramar, California, and Enhanced Mojave Viper in 29 Palms, California, Captain Albright deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11.2 from October 2011 until May 2012.  Upon returning from Afghanistan Captain Albright assumed the duties of Aviation Life Support Systems Officer in Charge.  During this time Captain Albright earned both Section Lead and Weapons and Tactics Officer certifications for the AV-8B while deploying for training to both Tucson, Arizona and then Yuma, Arizona for Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 13-2 Blue Air support. 

In May 2013 Captain Albright was assigned duties as Executive Officer for Recruiting Station Charleston, West Virginia.  After earning Most Improved Recruiting Station within Eastern Recruiting Region in 2014, Captain Albright was promoted to Major in February 2016, completed his recruiting duty tour, and checked into Marine Attack Squadron 231 in May 2016. 

After completing his refresh training and mini-detachment to New Orleans, Louisiana, Major Albright deployed to Isa Air Base, Bahrain with Marine Attack Squadron 231 from October 2016 to May 2017.  Upon return, Major Albright assumed the billet of Aircraft Maintenance Officer until July, 2018, when he became the Operations Officer.  Major Albright then became the Executive Officer of VMA-231 in December, 2019.  During his time since returning to from Isa Air Base, Major Albright has completed detachments to Dayton, OH, New Orleans, LA, Yuma, AZ in support of Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-19, and Rome, NY. During his time in VMA-231, he earned Division Lead, Functional Check Flight, Instrument Instructor, NATOPS Instructor, and refreshed his Weapons and Tactics Officer certification.

Lieutenant Colonel Albright is a graduate of both Expeditionary Warfare School, Command and Staff College with distinction, Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course academics, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Course, a multitude of other MOS and billet related schools.  He also earned his Master’s in Leadership Studies from Marshall University in 2020.  Lieutenant Colonel Albright has over 1500 flight hours and his personal decorations include Air Medal for Individual Action, Air Medal for Strike/Flight (8th Award), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd Award), and numerous campaign and unit awards.
